The story

Buried alive by an avalanche, Skylar Linder watches her biological sister Whitney Linder cut the safety rope from her waist to save Cameron Linder, the counterfeit heir the family has cherished in her place. As the snow closes over her, Skylar screams that her adoptive father's subordinates will blast the mountain apart if she is left behind, but Whitney only laughs, calling her a lying country bumpkin, and departs with Cameron. Even Whitney's assistant, Alfred Cooper, refuses to pull her free, leaving her in an ice tomb.

What the Linders do not know is that Skylar's adoptive parents, Titus and Freya Anderson, lead an international mercenary squad, and that the red button she presses sends a signal to them. A message from Lauren Anderson confirms they are only 120 miles away. Dragged out at last, Skylar is tossed aside while Cameron is fussed over, and he soon admits he cut the rope and triggered the avalanche himself. Whitney chose him. Now the squad is coming.

Opening

On the day I get buried alive by the avalanche, my biological older sister, Whitney Linder, cuts off the safety rope wrapped around my waist in order to save Cameron Linder, the fake heir who has replaced me all these years.

The snow is about to cover my head, and I can feel my warmth rapidly draining from my body.
