The story
Damian has been with Evanna Zeller for three years, yet he has never met her parents. When she finally invites him to her remote southern settlement, he is thrilled, even after a long journey by coach, bus and motorcycle to reach the isolated village.
At the settlement's entrance, dolls line the roadside, and two more stand by the door of the Zellers' crumbling house. Her parents wait with a reheated meal, and Mrs. Zeller tells him to enjoy his last meal. Mr. Zeller explains the dolls are Evanna's grandparents, made in their likeness after death.
That night, a man claims to be Evanna's ex, his soul trapped in a doll by a soul-locking array, and warns Damian he is next. Waking drenched in sweat, Damian finds no signal and only a dim bulb in the dark room.
Opening
My girlfriend, Evanna Zeller, and I have been together for three years now. She says she wants to take me home during the holidays to meet her parents.
I've hinted at it and straight-up asked more times than I can count, but she's shut me down every time.
