The story
Manon volunteers to get the campus heartthrob's number for her best friend Hazel, hoping to win over his friend Nate at the same time. Thanks to her help, Hazel and Chase spend three months in a sweet, late-night online relationship, and by the time they plan a double date to meet in person, Manon has won Nate too.
At the restaurant, both boys walk straight past Hazel and take Manon's hands. Chase declares he will compete with Nate for Manon, then ends things with Hazel on the spot, telling her to pretend none of it happened. Nate refuses to compete, and Manon, trapped between them, drags Hazel away. In the taxi Manon swears she will never say yes to Chase, while Hazel hides her tears behind her face mask.
Back at the dorm, Hazel's roommates find her sobbing. The next day Chase stops her and asks for Manon's contact card, blaming Hazel for the mix-up and calling her a coward. Hazel refuses to hand it over, insisting she will never make that choice for her best friend.
Opening
She had a massive crush on his best friend, Nate, so she figured she could kill two birds with one stone.
Thanks to her help, Chase and I ended up in a late-night, sweet-talking online relationship that lasted for three months. By the time we decided to meet up in person, Manon had also managed to win over Nate.
We planned a double date to finally take things offline.
But when the guys arrived at the restaurant, they both walked straight past me and grabbed Manon’s hands.
