The story
After a 38-hour shift, a young woman wakes inside a cheesy romance novel as the doomed sister of Alistair Sterling, the devoted second male lead. In the story, Alistair drains the family fortune on Penelope, the popular female lead, then dies saving the male lead, leaving his sister orphaned, destitute and frozen on the streets. Refusing that fate, she vows to protect her wealthy brother from Penelope's manipulations.
When Penelope weeps over Alistair's black card, his sister cheerfully exposes her Instagram post confirming a romance with Conrad, and Alistair coldly takes his card back. That night Penelope phones the Sterling mansion, begging for rescue from thugs at a bar. Alistair rushes out, his sister clinging to him, and at the club they find Penelope with Marco, who says she invited him. As the confrontation escalates, police storm in.
Behind Alistair, she hides a small smile: she made the call herself, to save the Sterling family from a mob boss's son.

In the novel, my brother not only pines after the popular female lead for years, but he also drains the family fortune for her. In the end, he even sacrifices himself to save the male lead, earning nothing but a few worthless tears from the girl.
