The story
A father's world collapses when his six-year-old son, Noah, suffers a fatal allergic reaction to tobacco smoke at a birthday party. His wife, Serena, allowed a man named Preston to blow smoke in the boy's face, and the child suffocated before his father could reach him. In his final moments, Noah whispers that his mother should not be blamed.
Serena never returns home or calls. When she finally appears, she reeks of stale tobacco and rages about Preston's scraped arm, refusing to believe her son is gone. She tears up the divorce papers her husband, Wyatt, has prepared and threatens to make him and Noah pay if anything happens to Preston. She even offers him a hundred thousand to hand the boy over for discipline.
Wyatt takes his son's ashes to his father's old house, but Serena blocks his path with several men, accusing Noah of stealing Preston's asthma inhaler. As she slaps him and plays a video on her phone, Wyatt steels himself to clear his dead son's name.
Opening
Panicked, our son ran downstairs, but it was too late. The allergic reaction closed his airway, and he suffocated.
By the time the hospital’s call reached me and I rushed to his side, he was already fading, his face and mouth covered in a crimson rash.
