The story
After landing a six-figure job, a woman expects to celebrate with Justin, the golden-retriever boyfriend who has treated her like a princess for three years. Then she finds a trending post from a man terrified he can no longer control his girlfriend once they marry, and the top comment advises a compliance test: claim his mother is sick and offer her $500 a month to move in as a full-time maid. The poster likes it.
Minutes later Justin calls, frantic, saying his mother Helen has fallen ill and he cannot celebrate. His words mirror the post, and his replies match the poster's updates. When he asks her to turn down her new job and care for Helen for $500 a month, she realizes the poster is almost certainly him. Yet a post about a girlfriend begging for Tulum does not fit her.
Furious, she refuses, then resolves to tear off his sweet mask and learn what else he is hiding.
