The story
For eight years, Elena has sent Nate Holloway a postcard from every city she visits, each one naming a single thing she wants to do with him. He keeps them in a vintage tin box in his study, and this year he finally promises to finish the last card with her.
A week before they are due to leave, Nate announces he is joining a celebrity travel show, The Perfect Pair, as the partner for Serena. At the press conference he calls Serena his dream travel partner. Then he admits he never read the postcards, and the production crew wants the tin as a recurring motif for the ninety-day shoot.
When Elena objects, Nate offers train tickets to Cape Point, the destination on the final card, then takes one back for Serena. The remaining ticket bears Serena's name, and the bracelet Elena made him now circles Serena's wrist.
Opening
I never wrote grand declarations of love. Instead, I wrote one simple thing I wanted to do with him.
Watching the sunset by the dunes. Having breakfast in the historic district. Seeing a real, heavy snowfall in the North.
He kept those cards in a vintage tin box in his study. By now, they filled two entire layers.
This year, Nate finally promised to finish the very last one with me.
