The story
At the year-end review, Shirley Johnson asks Janet to hand over the project lead position for the Luxton Group collaboration so she can be promoted to deputy general manager. Janet refuses, knowing Shirley lacks the ability and the deal could take the company public. Chris Kennedy, Janet's boyfriend, sides with Shirley, and when Janet is slapped down for speaking her mind, she walks out of the company and calls her brother, Steven Luxton, to cancel the partnership.
Janet remembers a previous life: she led the project to billions, married Chris, and was kidnapped on their honeymoon in Morandia, where Chris handed her over to be tortured to death, blaming her for Shirley's fate. Now she has returned to the day Shirley made her demand.
With Steven's backing, Janet joins his company and prepares to handle the Luxton Group partnership herself. At the bidding meeting, she finds Chris with his arm around Shirley, and he looks annoyed to see her.
Opening
During the year-end review, Shirley Johnson, Chris Kennedy’s childhood friend, said she wanted to take over as the project lead so she could get promoted to deputy general manager.
For the sake of the company, I turned her down. Shirley, furious, quit on the spot and went to get married.
