The Girl in the Rental

Coming home late from work, a young woman sneaks a shower in the shared bathroom of her rental, only to be pinned against the cold tile by a warm, bare-chested man. It is Ryan Miller, the foreman from the construction site next door, who warns her that his crew is right outside and tells her not to scream. Instead of panicking, she leans back into him and breathes a provocation into his ear, refusing to give him the fear he expects.

His men pound on the door, joking and demanding to be let in, while Ryan holds her in place, his grip tightening. He orders her to get dressed and come with him tonight, but she pushes back, taunting him and asking what he wants his crew to hear. The standoff between them turns into a raw, breathless clash of wills, neither willing to back down.

Ryan finally throws the door open to face his crew, then half-carries her back to her room and gives her an ultimatum: meet him downstairs in five minutes. When she does, he drives her to the pre-fab housing at the far end of the site, where the night's challenge is only beginning.
