The story
As the first zoologist to discover the mythical Harpies, Oliver once had everything: a coveted fellowship with the brilliant Stella, an international award, and a future in science. Then Stella accused him of selling their research abroad, stole his father's work, and left him to die disgraced and homeless on a snowy street.
Now he has returned to the selection exam with his memories intact. He deliberately places second, letting Stella and her protégé Toby celebrate at the top of the results board. When the Director arrives, Stella threatens to quit unless Toby joins her team, and Toby accuses Oliver of stealing his notes. Oliver declines the partnership and walks away, watching to see what the award he once won will do to them this time.
But Stella is not finished with him yet.
Opening
But our success drove her envious junior colleague, Toby, to overdose. The night before our return, Stella made a televised accusation, claiming I had sold our national research to a foreign corporation. "You stole Toby’s study materials and pushed him to fail!" she cried, calling me a traitor unworthy of science.
Only then did I realize she had stolen my father’s research, ruining his reputation.
