The story
Ten years ago, Alara saved Mason Whitmore's life. He brought her into the Whitmore family and promised that when she turned eighteen, she could choose one of his four sons as her fiancé, and the man she chose would inherit the company. Everyone expected her to pick Ethan, the eldest son and a champion race car driver, the boy she had loved for years.
Then she overheard Ethan tell Jenny that Alara was never his choice, and Julian and Ryan made their contempt clear. When Mason asks for her decision, Alara names Noah, the fourth son, who uses a wheelchair and rarely appears in public. Mason agrees to keep the choice secret until the succession ceremony.
Ethan, Julian, Ryan and Jenny still believe Alara will choose Ethan, and they blame her when Jenny is hurt. Alara tells them she will marry none of them, but only she knows how final that answer already is.
