The story
In a kingdom where the king was fated never to have children, Merione Edolina bears him five heirs through the power of the System. The last, little Henrik, is killed by Queen Vasya, and the court blames Merione for the loss of the royal line. Queen Dowager Ysolde demands she answer for it, and Merione's own family, who found her only seven years ago, keeps its distance, favoring the daughter it raised, Vasya.
King Sebastian Sylvestrion hides the truth to protect Vasya, and instead sends the newly delivered Merione on a pilgrimage of three thousand steps to the Church of Sorrows. She accepts without protest, knowing the System has already told her she will die three days after labor and return to her modern world, leaving a king with no heirs.
As Vasya's birthday feast approaches, Merione must stand beside the woman who killed her child, while the kingdom's future quietly slips away.
Opening
Thanks to the System, I managed to give birth to a fifth heir for a king who was destined never to have children. However, my baby was killed by the queen, Vasya Edolina.
Sebastian Sylvestrion comforted me, saying, “Vasya lost the ability to have children after helping me conquer these lands. She’s jealous, and she’s only expressing her unhappiness. Don’t mind her.”
Everyone thought I would rage against Queen Vasya for my lost baby’s life as I used to, but I only nodded numbly.
