The story
For six years, Fiona Sinclair has stood by her husband Lucas Maxwell, the man she loved through his darkest years. But when his childhood sweetheart Cecilia Brown returns with terminal stomach cancer, Lucas asks the unthinkable: to sleep with Cecilia, give her a child, and let Fiona raise it. He calls it fulfilling a dying woman's wish. Fiona refuses, and Lucas turns cruel, blaming her for the breakup he never got over and declaring he needs no permission to father another woman's child.
When a photo surfaces of Lucas and Cecilia with their fingers tightly interlocked, Fiona leaves a comment beneath it: a public divorce announcement, exposing the affair he let her unknowingly cover for. His furious call only hardens her resolve. She signs the divorce agreement, cutting herself free from the man she loved and hated at once.
What remains is a woman reclaiming her dignity after years of quiet sacrifice.
Opening
The day my husband, Lucas Maxwell, helps his childhood sweetheart—Cecilia Brown, who has cancer—lose her virginity, I leave behind a divorce agreement and walk away.
