The Mutual Salvation Between My Mother and Me

On her twenty-fifth birthday, a young woman celebrates her mother's divorce from the man who abused her for over twenty years. Before their new life can begin, her drunken father stabs them both and sets them on fire. She wakes in the past, inside the body of a thirteen-year-old girl, and finds her young mother, Lisa Waters, on a blind date with Jackson Brady — the same man. She pulls her mother away and warns her never to marry him, but Lisa only laughs at the strange girl who claims to have lost her memory and begs to be taken in.

Determined to prove the truth, the girl steals eggs to buy wine and lures Jackson into showing his drunken, violent temper in front of Lisa. The beating she takes is brutal, but she survives to warn her mother again. Lisa listens in silence, and the girl cannot tell whether her warnings are working or whether her mother is simply humouring a child who knows too much.
