The story
After a plagiarism scandal blacklists her online, Vivian Vance publicly retires from writing, stunning her boyfriend Sean and Chloe, the woman called the victim of the scandal. In a previous life, the two humiliated her while secretly stealing her work, letting the words she wrote build Chloe's reputation as a genius author. Given a second chance, Vivian deletes the pen name she used for six years, ready to abandon her tiny apartment and inherit her family fortune, leaving Chloe to finish the remaining half of the book.
At the press conference meant to prove her innocence, her files are wiped clean, and Sean demands she apologize to Chloe and admit the plagiarism. He knows the truth, yet he attacks her with vicious words, unaware that her mother heads the Asia-Pacific region of a multinational conglomerate and that her late father left a nine-figure inheritance. Vivian sneers at their performance, knowing Chloe cannot complete the foreshadowing she buried earlier, and that exposing her is only a matter of time.
Opening
After being blacklisted online due to a plagiarism scandal, I publicly announced my retirement from writing.
My boyfriend, who had just been indignantly condemning me, froze.
"What are you doing? Didn't you say you still have a lot of debt to pay off?"
His childhood sweetheart, the "victim" of the plagiarism incident, also panicked.
"Vivian, you don't need to punish yourself like this. I'm willing to give you a chance to start over."
Looking at the frantically flashing camera flashes below the stage, my expression didn't waver.
