The story
Joseph Chapman accepts his college friend Lance Ellis's invitation to spend the holidays at his house, where Lance lives alone with his mother, Anna. The moment Joseph steps inside, a pair of worn stockings left in a shoe by the door catches his attention, and while Lance is not looking, he gives in to the impulse to pick them up and breathe them in.
When Anna appears, she is stunning, and Joseph struggles to hide his body's reaction. Her knowing smile and her decision to put the stockings on make his panic spike, and when she notices they are damp inside, her eyes turn sharp and searching. She orders him into her room and shuts the door, demanding to know whether he was the one who touched them.
Joseph denies it, but his body betrays him, and Anna decides he needs to be punished. With Lance just outside the door, the line between discipline and something far more dangerous begins to blur.
Opening
"I didn't mean to…"
All I had done was catch the scent of my classmate's mother's stockings, and that alone was enough for her to drag me into a room and punish me for it.
What terrified me even more was this. Somehow, unbelievably, my classmate was about to start calling me Dad.
My name is Joseph Chapman. I met one of my best friends, Lance Ellis, in college. When the holidays came around, he invited me over to his place.
Lance lived with his mom. It was just the two of them in a big house.
