The story
Lily Parker has always been a beat slower than everyone else, so when Adrian Blake forced his way into her life, she treated his pursuit as a game. For three years she ran and he chased, until the day she learned she was pregnant and went home to tell Adrian, whom doctors had diagnosed as infertile. Then he crashed his car and lost his memory, and his childhood sweetheart Vanessa Hale blamed Lily for the accident and begged her to let him go.
When Lily returns to have the tracker on her wrist removed, the Blake family pays her off and sends her away, erasing every trace of her. Only at the airport does she remember she never told them she was pregnant, and that Adrian's diagnosis was wrong. She raises her son Owen alone in a new city, where his face and manner are unmistakably Adrian's.
At Owen's preschool open day, a parent recognises the boy as a smaller version of his boss, and cruel words about Lily follow. Then, in an emergency room, she meets Vanessa Hale again, and Adrian Blake steps up beside her and asks Lily her name.

So when Adrian Blake forced his way into my life, I thought he was only playing with me.
Every time I failed to run away and he caught me again, I gave him a thumbs-up.
"Your hide-and-seek skills are improving fast. I only hid for half an hour and you already found me."
