The Stand-In In My Wedding Portrait

On the day of their wedding photoshoot, Rachel's fiancé Gary brings his childhood best friend Mindy to pose in her place, saying Rachel lacks poise and bad photos would ruin his reputation. Mindy wears an identical gown, makeup and jewelry, and teases that no one will notice she is not Rachel. Gary agrees to her bet without asking Rachel, and she realizes he had her dress altered weeks earlier for Mindy's measurements. She unlaces the bodice, leaves the gown behind, cancels the hotel reservation for his mother's party and walks out into the rain.

At their apartment she finds a sticky note in Gary's handwriting instructing Mindy to sign a contract on Rachel's behalf, and an equity transfer agreement involving assets under her name. The clause on page three grants full power of attorney if Rachel fails to attend in person, with Mindy named as Party A. From her face to her identity to her remaining assets, it is no game but an erasure. She books a one-way flight to Oceanside for three days later, certain that will be enough time.
