The story
When the world ends, Blair survives by clinging to Roman, the squad's stoic captain, whose hydro-kinesis makes him invaluable. But then The Stream appears before her eyes: floating messages that call her a selfish villainess and predict her death at the hands of the Zombie King once Roman tires of her.
Terrified, Blair stops demanding and starts helping, training with Coach and keeping her distance from Roman. Yet the more she pulls away, the more intently he watches her, and The Stream hints that her true ability may already be awakening.
Can a woman the world has written off as useless rewrite the fate it has already predicted?
Opening
That’s when the text scrolled across my vision.
The Stream.
[OMG lady, it's the apocalypse. Who cares about hygiene right now?!]
[This high-maintenance diva is useless. The male lead needs a woman as strong as he is.]
[Don't worry, just wait for the Zombie Tide. Once the male lead sees her selfishness, he’ll dump her.]
[Without the male lead’s protection, the canon fodder ex-girlfriend dies at the hands of the Zombie King. Brutally.]
A shiver racked my entire body.
