The Wishes He Never Fulfilled

For seven years, Claire has loved Ethan, following him to South City and building her life around his. But Ethan forgets her constantly. He has forgotten ninety-nine plans, including their anniversary dinner, which he gave away to celebrate his junior colleague Angela's achievement. Every message he sends her is about Angela; every gift and gesture of care goes to Angela, while Claire is told she is dramatic and should be more independent. When Claire finally stops replying and begins packing, Ethan's only concern is that she check a regulation for Angela's report.

After a fever, a blocked phone and a broken promise about a wedding date, Claire realizes she can never be his priority. Her overseas assignment is approved, and she tells her mother there will be no wedding. Yet Ethan still expects her to come when called, and Angela keeps posting about the dinners and rescues she receives. Claire must decide whether seven years of love is worth one more silence.
