The story
Diagnosed with a rare, incurable disease, Lorelei Judson has only seven days left to live. When her parents win the auction for the wonder drug that could save her, they hand it to her infertile older cousin, Annie Harper, instead. Her fiance, Oliver Mosley, gives the wedding gifts meant for her to Annie too. This time, Lorelei does not fight back. She buys Annie supplements, signs away her house and car, and signs a cadaver donation consent form.
Her father, Michael Judson, promises to develop a cure after attending a medical symposium for rare diseases, where he plans to dissect a patient's cadaver. Her mother, Jennifer Goodwin, praises her new obedience. Only her physician, Martin Snow, knows the truth about her illness.
As her family celebrates Annie's engagement, Lorelei quietly counts down the days, wondering whether her parents will feel regret when her father's scalpel finds her.
Opening
A wonder drug that is being auctioned off is my last chance at survival. However, upon winning the bid for the said drug, my parents hand it to my older cousin, Annie Harper, who is suffering from infertility instead.
This time, I will not make a fuss. I will even purchase a variety of supplements for Annie.
My fiance tells me that Annie deserves to be married off splendidly.
