The story
Three years after her death, Emily Johnson lingers as a cursed spirit, watching her husband Jack build a fortune and plan a wedding to his terminally ill first love, Olivia. When Jack arrives at her mother's door demanding divorce papers, the old woman tells him Emily is dead. He refuses to believe it, threatening to cut off her medical expenses unless Emily appears.
Jack tears the city apart searching for a wife who no longer exists, while Olivia, who carries Emily's donated heart, quietly steers his attention away from the truth. Emily's mother, her own illnesses beyond hope, holds on only to witness Jack's regret.
Then the hospital records surface: Emily Johnson, twenty-seven, died of injuries from a car accident. Jack's hands tremble as he reads, and he cannot accept what the page declares.
