The story
Bound by the Oracle's decree, a mortal apothecary named Elara is forced to become the shared mate of twin black dragon Alphas, Kaelen and Cassian. Kaelen is cold but quietly gentle, while Cassian is vicious, mocking her as a useless human and a leech who drags the brothers down.
After Cassian shoves her during a healing attempt, spilling the moon-wine she brewed and calling her a leech, Elara's devotion curdles into shame. When her fellow apothecary Lyanna points out that only one of the twins treats her with care, Elara decides to stop dividing her kindness equally and carries a single glass of moon-wine to Kaelen.
Cassian notices the slight at once, and his fury demands an answer. Between a quiet dragon's unexpected tenderness and a violent mate's wounded pride, Elara must decide how much of herself she is willing to give.
Opening
To keep the peace between humans and shifters, those chosen by the Oracle are forced to mate with their bound partners.
And me? I was forced to be the shared mate of twin black dragons.
Every night, I brewed two glasses of moon-wine to help them sleep.
The older brother, Kaelen, was cold. But when he took his glass, his scalding fingertips would brush my wrist in a silent promise, and he’d murmur a soft thanks.
