The story
On their seventh wedding anniversary, Nate Anderson tells his wife Lila that he has offended a mob boss and sends her and their daughter Poppy into hiding in the desert. Halfway there, Lila remembers Poppy's asthma medication and turns back, only to find Nate celebrating at home with his friends and Emma, the woman he truly loves. She overhears him admit he married her out of duty and that the food he sent them was unsold dog food from Emma's shop.
Three years later, Nate calls to say he is coming to bring her home, but Lila has built a new life in the oasis with Liam White, who saved her and Poppy and gave them a true home. When Nate and Emma track her down at the Oasis Resort with their son Olly, they mock her and demand she return to serve them. Lila refuses, and Poppy declares that Liam, not Nate, is her daddy.
As Nate accuses her of selling herself and Emma taunts her over Poppy's pink diamond necklace, Lila slaps him, and Olly rushes at her.
Opening
On our seventh wedding anniversary, my husband, Nate Anderson, told me that he had offended a mob boss. On the same night, he sent our daughter, Poppy Anderson, and I to go into hiding in the desert.
Halfway through the journey, I recalled that I had forgotten to pack my daughter’s asthma medication. Hence, I quickly went back.
