The story
When a cup of hot coffee is spilled over Nathan Cole by his wife's assistant, Eric Dawson, the scalding burn on his arm is dismissed while Eric's slight redness draws all the concern. Sophia Bennett, Nathan's wife, storms in and demands he apologize to Eric, mocking the injury of a renowned performer whose hands are his livelihood.
Nathan refuses, and Sophia's punishment is swift: he wakes inside an octagonal cage before her and her laughing friends. She orders him to apologize or face death, then sets vicious dogs on him. Eric, who trained the animals with Nathan as their target, pleads for mercy while secretly commanding the attack. As the dogs tear into his arm, Nathan knows his performing career is finished.
Sophia declares she never loved him and would only bear Eric's children. Beaten and bloodied, Nathan watches her friends close in to humiliate him, and resolves that unless Eric destroys him completely, he will not rest.
Opening
My wife’s male assistant spilled a cup of hot coffee all over me.
Before I could say anything, the assistant’s eyes welled up with tears and snot.
“Brother, I’m sorry, it’s my fault. I’ll wash your clothes for you.”
The hot coffee had scalded my arm badly, raising large blisters. I pushed the assistant away, telling him it was fine and that he didn’t need to bother.
