The story
The day Vivian forces divorce papers on Ethan, a voice binds him to the Deathwish System: court death, or die. His first task is to slap Vivian, the ruthless tycoon he once fished from the sea after her family's ruin. Terrified, he obeys, then smashes a police car's mirror and lands in a holding cell with a fine he cannot pay.
Vivian has blocked him, and a bid proposal has vanished from her office. Her first love, Adrian Levy, blames Ethan, while Vivian's assistant reveals Adrian fried her laptop. When the system orders Ethan to slap Adrian, he finally understands: the system built him an alibi, and the life it wants destroyed is theirs.
Ethan strikes Adrian and turns on Vivian, who no longer recognizes the man she married.
Opening
The day Vivian forced the divorce papers on me, I was bound to the Deathwish System.
The system’s command echoed in my head: “Slap her across the face and tell her to get lost.”
I trembled.
Vivian was ruthless. If I dared to stand in the way of her reunion with her long-lost love, she would tear me to pieces.
But the system’s threat was chillingly clear: “If you don’t start courting death, you’re going to die. Now.”
I had no choice. My hand flew out, and I slapped her.
