The story
Sofia De Luca is the only biological daughter of Marco De Luca, the most powerful Don. When her parents adopt Celeste De Luca as her younger sister, everything changes: her birthday party is cancelled, her place at the elite academy is given away, and the ruby brooch her grandmother left her is taken. On Celeste's word alone, Marco and Isabella brand Sofia a traitor and hand her to the rival Bertini family as a hostage. They tour the world with Celeste and forget her. Seven years later, Sofia is dying of pancreatic cancer in Santa Maria Hospice under the name Nora Vale. Marco and Isabella find her and demand she confess to the Council of the Five Families for the murder of Anthony Bertini, a crime Celeste blames on her. Sofia refuses to die for Celeste again.
Opening
Then my parents adopted Celeste De Luca as my younger sister, and everything changed.
My birthday party could be cancelled because she threw a fit. My place at the elite academy went to her. Even the ruby brooch my grandmother left me was taken away because she said she liked it.
On nothing but Celeste's word, my parents branded me a traitor to the De Luca family and personally handed me over to a rival family as a hostage. I endured every kind of torment there.
They toured the world with their adopted daughter and lived in luxury. They forgot me completely.
