The story
On their wedding day, Mandy hires a special effects makeup artist to reshape Chase's face into that of Sean, her long-lost first love, so she can bear to go through with the ceremony. When the artist warns that the prosthetics will damage his skin, Mandy shrugs it off, demanding he either wear the makeup or go under the knife. Chase tears the prosthetics from his face and calls off the wedding.
Mandy is certain he will crawl back, but Chase returns home and has every trace of her packed away. Late that night she arrives with Nathan, the younger brother of the man she obsesses over, and the two of them twist the story to cast Chase as the villain. Chase stands his ground and tells them both to leave.
Having spent years enduring her contempt, Chase has finally cut his losses, and Mandy has no idea what awaits her.
Opening
At our wedding, Mandy brought in a special effects makeup artist, insisting on turning my face into that of her long-lost first love.
Only by doing this could she suppress her resentment and go through with the ceremony with me.
Staring at my reflection in the mirror, a wave of nausea washed over me.
