The story
Jocelyn Stevens has loved Benjamin Jameson in secret for ten years, so her father drugs him and sends him to her bed. Benjamin coldly agrees to marry her, then leaves the country for three years. Jocelyn gives birth to their daughter, Esther Jameson, and waits for his return.
When Benjamin finally comes back, he keeps his distance, claiming mysophobia, and never holds his daughter. Jocelyn learns he has spent those years abroad with his ex-girlfriend Cynthia and her daughter Jessica. He brings them home, and Jessica tears up Esther's drawing and calls her a bastard child. Benjamin defends Jessica and tells Jocelyn she has no right to stop him from caring for them.
Jocelyn drafts a divorce agreement, torn between leaving and giving Esther a father. When Esther asks why her daddy chose Jessica, Jocelyn must decide how much more she can bear.
Opening
When Benjamin Jameson woke up, he coldly agreed to marry me. Shortly after our wedding, he started taking frequent business trips abroad, disappearing for three years.
I gave birth to our daughter, Esther Jameson and waited for him to return. Three years later, I heard he was finally returning. I skipped an important social engagement, took my daughter in my arms and rushed to the airport to meet him.
