The story
In her last life, Lydia Cohen lent her car to her sister-in-law, Maeve Cohen, who raced through the streets at 125 mph and killed a family of three, then ran over them again. Maeve hid behind Lydia's name, claiming to be the Lincoln Enterprise heiress, and tricked Lydia into sending money to the victims. When the grieving family stormed the Cohen house, they stabbed Lydia to death, and her father later died in a car crash. Only after dying did Lydia learn it was all Maeve's jealous plan.
Now Lydia has been reborn on the day Maeve borrowed the car. She hangs up before Maeve can finish, buys a baked potato from Charles Fleming, the victims' brother, and pays him to drive her home. Maeve keeps texting, urging her to hurry, while the mob forces open the iron gate at her in-laws' house, demanding the heiress come out.
With fifty minutes until the mob arrives, Lydia is no longer the naive woman she was. This time, she intends to make Maeve pay for everything.
Opening
My sister-in-law, Maeve Cohen, floored my luxury car and blew past traffic at about 125 mph, killing a family of three.
She pretended to be me and acted as if nothing could touch her.
"Those idiots walked into my path! It's not my fault they got hit!" she snapped. "I'm the Lincoln Enterprise heiress. Even if I ran, who would dare catch me?"
In my last life, Maeve said her husband wasn't home and she needed a car to visit her parents, so she borrowed mine.
