The story
At midnight, the ER receives a pregnant patient, pale and convulsing violently. George Stewart lifts her shirt to diagnose her, but his wife, head nurse Selena Carson, accuses him of sexual harassment in front of the family. The scene is streamed live, and the hospital forces him to apologize. He resigns the next day, knowing the patient's condition is often misdiagnosed and that only he can cure her.
Director Reed Crane and Selena push for his suspension and apology, then reassign him to cleaning toilets. When Selena's first love, Adam Walsh, returns, she clears the way for him, and Adam diagnoses the patient on sight without a thorough examination. George warns that gambling with a patient's life violates protocol, and when Selena refuses to listen, he asks for a divorce.
Disheartened, George watches Selena and Adam stand together as the perfect couple, while he is left in caregiver scrubs, certain that only he can truly treat the woman.
Opening
But my wife, Selena Carson, who also works as the head nurse, suddenly berates me angrily.
"Do you have any idea that what you're doing is sexual harassment? Can't you spare the patient her pride?
"Don't use your treatment as an excuse! I refuse to believe that there aren't any female doctors in the ER at all!"
The patient's family members streamed the whole thing live. Soon, everyone was blasting me on the Internet.
The hospital forces me to apologize to the pregnant patient. But I decide to tender my resignation the very next day.
