The story
Everyone says Selene and Astra do not look like sisters. Selene is beautiful, brilliant, and first in her grade, while Astra is overweight, slow-witted, and last in her class. Their parents shower Selene with praise and gifts, and even Astra's friends drift away to her sister's side. Only Selene stays kind, always urging Astra to work harder.
Then Astra overhears the truth: Selene is bound to a System that makes her luckier the lazier she is, while Astra's own System makes her unluckier the harder she works. Selene chose both twelve years ago, and she has been feeding on Astra's effort ever since.
With nothing left to lose, Astra corners the System in the school's broadcasting room and forces a bargain: it will malfunction, and Selene will never know. The next morning, Astra runs the track as usual, and for the first time her sweat means something.
Opening
Because of this, she slacked off every single day, yet remained the perfect, flawless goddess everyone adored.
Meanwhile, I studied until the dead of night, yet remained an overweight, clumsy loser.
My sister told me that in this lifetime, my only purpose was to exist as a pathetic backdrop to make her look better.
