Farewell To My Cold Wife

Nathaniel has endured years of quiet humiliation inside the Kensington household. At the family's closed-door Sunday dinners, he is treated as a servant while Spencer, his wife Victoria's young assistant, is welcomed month after month. When his five-year-old daughter Mia hands the chef's menu to Spencer instead of him, Nathaniel finally reaches his breaking point and drops divorce papers in front of Victoria.

Victoria refuses to take him seriously, dismissing his pain as a tantrum and asking him to wait until she is less buried in work. Spencer hovers nearby, and his soft word is enough to make Victoria soften. When Mia runs past Nathaniel to cling to Spencer, then hurls a crystal ashtray that splits his forehead, Victoria blames him for the scene. Looking at the three of them, Nathaniel sees a family he was never part of.

He signs the papers and demands Victoria do the same. She warns him not to push past the point of no return, then threatens that he will never get custody of Mia, the daughter he raised himself.
