The story
After dying at the hands of her husband's enemies, Ava Hayes wakes on the very day she learned her marriage to mob boss Dominic Vance had been erased. In her past life she was the Queen of Cheats who won him Canaan's underground casino, yet he gave her title to Lily White, a fragile card shuffler, and had her brother Sam beaten to death before her eyes. This time she says nothing. She sells her jewelry, plans to take Sam and flee to a third country, and schedules an abortion rather than bear Dominic's child.
But Dominic's world does not let anyone leave. His enemies drag her into a van and slash her back, and when his black Maybach slows at the intersection, it speeds away, shielding Lily's eyes from the sight. Ava wakes in a private ward to hear Dominic tell his doctor that if she makes a scene, her brother will be brought to her.
With her body broken and her escape discovered, Ava must decide how much she is willing to gamble to break free of Dominic Vance.
Opening
After my rebirth, I ignored every call from my mob boss husband. I deleted every text without reading.
I spent my days in bars with my best friends, surrounded by eager young men wagging their tails.
When I stumbled home drunk for the eighth time, Dominic Vance was blocking the front door.
"Where did the guy who bought you drinks touch you tonight?"
