The story
Nora Vance wakes from surgery to find her mother-in-law, Eleanor Sterling, slapping a medical report across her face and accusing her of carrying HIV. Her husband, Julian Sterling, a billionaire tech CEO, orders her sent to a quarantine ward rather than defend her. But the report bears Eleanor's own name, and Julian's scan of its barcode confirms it: Eleanor has been infected for at least five years.
When Dr. Ryan Hayes arrives, he blames a hospital data migration and produces a report in Nora's name instead. Julian chooses the convenient explanation, and Nora is dragged into a windowless isolation room, her wound bleeding and untreated. There Julian tosses her divorce papers dated three days earlier, revealing their marriage was arranged only so she could donate bone marrow to his sister, Chloe.
Locked away and framed, Nora must find a way to prove the truth about the report and the doctor who forged it.
Opening
I had just been wheeled out of the operating room. The anesthesia hadn't even fully worn off yet.
Suddenly, Eleanor slammed a medical report violently onto my face.
"Look at this! It says right here in black and white that you have HIV! You dirty, cheating slut!"
