The story
For twelve years, Skyler has stood by her fiancé Louis, tolerating the way he always puts Monica first. When she finally secures World Cup tickets he had been desperate for, she overhears him planning to take Monica instead, just as he has for every tournament. He never intended to bring her.
Louis casually hands her Monica's design work to finish, ignores her packed suitcase, and lets Monica borrow her late grandmother's sapphire necklace without asking. At Monica's apartment, Skyler finds matching toothbrushes and towels, proof of nights Louis claimed were spent at the office.
With her wedding registration cancelled and a flight home booked, Skyler quietly decides this time she will be the one to walk away.
Opening
I finally scored the World Cup tickets my fiancé, Louis, had been dying to get. I was thrilled and about to tell him the good news when I overheard his friend talking to him:
"Skyler turned down a design gig at Milan Fashion Week just to be with you, and now you’re giving the ticket to Monica? That’s a dick move, man."
