At a class reunion karaoke night, Timothy Fox plays a game of inventing the worst things he has done to a partner, and every word he says is true: he skipped her grandmother's funeral for Sheila Winfield's birthday, sent her money to Sheila, and abandoned her during a D&C to pick Sheila up from a failed road test. Listening, his wife says nothing, but she quietly confirms an out-of-town job offer.

Afterward he drapes his jacket over Sheila in the cold while his wife, still recovering from the D&C, hugs her own arms. He hands her the stomach medicine she had personal shoppers bring from Hong Kong and Macau, telling her to drop it off for Sheila at work. At home she packs, leaves the bright-yellow size-small dress on his pillow, and pours the date porridge she made for him down the drain.
