The story
Camille Rhodes returns from a six-month executive program to find that her husband, Marcus Shaw, has promoted Sienna Tate—an intern who ranked dead last in performance—to Department Manager at Aether Advisors, the firm Camille founded alone. On her first day back, Sienna splashes coffee over Camille's suit and boasts that Marcus can hand her Camille's job whenever he wishes. Camille responds by slapping termination papers onto Sienna's chest.
Marcus and his loyalists, all promoted during Camille's absence, throw their resignation letters onto her desk and demand Sienna's immediate reinstatement or they all walk. Marcus reveals he has secured the partners' support and won an internal vote, making him the de facto controller of the company Camille built. Sienna gloats openly, claiming whatever affection the couple shared died during Marcus's last overseas visit.
Camille refuses to bend to the coercion, telling anyone who wishes to leave that the door is open. Marcus warns her not to play this game, but she makes clear that threats are the one thing she does not fear.
Opening

On my first day back, the girl publicly splashed coffee all over my new custom-tailored Armani suit.
“Marcus said that if I wanted your job, all he has to do is say the word.”
I countered by slapping her termination papers right onto her chest.
My husband and his entire inner circle responded by throwing their own resignation letters onto my desk.
“Unless you reinstate her immediately, we all walk today.”
I smiled. “Perfect. I’ll replace all of you, starting with you.”
