The story
Chloe returns from a business trip to find a jade Fertility Buddha in her husband Julian's study. He claims a client gave it for good fortune, but an intern's deleted post reveals a prayer for a son. Julian insists the intern, Mia, is only a distant cousin, yet his Patek Philippe watch — a gift from Chloe — now dangles on Mia's wrist at the office.
When Chloe confronts them, Julian shields Mia and calls it a scene. His mother phones to blame Chloe's childlessness and defend Mia as a surrogate. Julian admits he needs an heir Chloe cannot give him, and that Mia is willing to bear his child without a title.
Sterling, their angel investor, receives Chloe's evidence of embezzlement. A medical report shows Mia is already six weeks pregnant, her prenatal bills paid from company funds, while Julian claims he is at the hospital with his mother.
Opening
He lied and said a client gifted it for "good fortune."
I immediately pulled up his new intern’s Instagram. There it was—a post from three days ago, geo-tagged at a famous spiritual temple known for fertility blessings.
The caption read: "Prayed for a son. Hoping Mr. J gets his heart's desire."
I realized instantly: My husband, Julian, wasn't just cheating; he was trying to secure an heir via a surrogate.
