The story
After a car crash leaves Alex pinned under a vehicle, his fiancée Chelsea rushes past the rescue to her uninjured ex-husband, Jason. Recovering in hospital, Alex receives only a text from her, and he calls the father he has avoided for years, saying he will go abroad and let someone else take over the company. He begins canceling everything tied to the wedding he waited seven years for.
Returning home, Alex finds his decor replaced with Goth furnishings, flowers piled by the door despite his pollen allergies, and the passcode changed. Inside, Jason holds a leather whip while Chelsea kneels at his feet, calling Alex a loser. When Alex protests, Chelsea blames him and demands an apology, then hands Jason the handmade mug she once treasured.
Chelsea later begs Alex to postpone their marriage license appointment so she can attend Jason's sculpture exhibit. Alex must decide how much more of this he is willing to understand.
Opening
After the car crash, my girlfriend, Chelsea, pushed through the crowd and rushed towards her uninjured ex-husband, Jason, like he was a precious treasure.
Ambulance sirens wailed, everyone trying to rescue me, pinned under the car.
But Chelsea, for the man at the core of her heart, was frantically looking for a first-aid kit.
Her college sweetheart, the one she'd married—he was unforgettable, I guess.
