The story
After her ex cheats on her, Suzy Shaw sells the jewelry he gave her for four hundred dollars and spends it on a box of black candles. She arranges them in a circle outside his apartment building and lights them one by one, while Donald Turner, his mother Rachel Turner, and his new girlfriend Lisa Cook watch in disbelief. Then a ding sounds in her head: every two dollars of candles brings a ten-thousandfold cashback, and money pours into her account.
As the neighbors gather and Donald threatens to call the police, Suzy keeps lighting candles, and the cashback keeps climbing. Rachel kicks over the tray and Donald grinds the candles underfoot, but Suzy refuses to stop, and by the end of the night she has earned two hundred thousand dollars.
When Donald accuses her of stealing the money and calls the police, Suzy calmly shows him her balance and tells him she has earned enough.
