The story
In the Vitali household, every family verdict is settled by a set of custom chips: the side with the family crest means protection, the blank side means guilt, and majority rules. When her brother Nico breaks a priceless vase and blames her, Donna Isabella casts the blank chip against her daughter anyway, locking the girl in a damp wine cellar for a week. Her sister Sofia takes the necklace that was meant to be her engagement gift, and the chips come up blank against her once more.
On the yacht, she finds her fiancé Julian in bed with Sofia. Isabella slaps her, and the family votes five blanks to one crest. Julian flips the last chip himself. When she refuses to apologize, Isabella orders the engagement transferred to Sofia and plans to send her to a private sanitarium in Switzerland, citing mental instability. Her father Marco lets it stand to save the business.
Locked in her room, she learns the family doctor has already spread the rumor of her breakdown, and that Mrs. Marchetti has been offered Sofia as the bride instead. A majority vote, she insists, does not make them clean.
