I Rejected His Redemption From Beyond The Grave

Rowan has spent three years as Rhys Blackwood's wife and prisoner, kneeling for hours, poured out for his clients, dragged to the emergency room after every glass of alcohol, and forced through nine terminations. She believed she was paying for a crime: that her brother Dean had assaulted Rhys's sister Paige. Then Paige finds her at the clinic, on the day Rowan finally agrees to treatment, and confesses the truth. There was no assault. Paige and Daphne, Rhys's childhood sweetheart, staged the whole thing to drive Rowan away, and Dean was institutionalized and then reported dead in a fall.

Now diagnosed with terminal gastric cancer, Rowan refuses chemotherapy. Dean was all she had, and he died because of her, so she goes to his grave to say she will join him within the week. Rhys finds her there in the rain, still calling her his dog and demanding she pay for a sin she never committed, and drags her to a hotel room where Mr. Price waits with a bottle.

When she refuses to drink, Rhys's deal and Mr. Price's patience both hang on what she does next.
