The story
Scarlett Sterling's first love, Julian Thorne, is dying of kidney failure, and the only perfect match is her husband, Asher Hayes. Their three-year marriage was a business arrangement that saved the Sterling Group after Julian vanished abroad. Scarlett has never forgiven Asher, believing he stole Julian's place, and she has treated him with coldness ever since.
When Julian returns, Scarlett demands a divorce, then demands a kidney. She offers Asher anything, then threatens to bankrupt his father's company if he refuses. Asher, secretly suffering from heart failure, watches her rush to Julian's bedside after a suicide attempt and is left alone.
With his father hospitalized and his family's funds frozen, Asher must decide whether to sign away his kidney, and perhaps his life, for a woman who never loved him.
