The story
Born with a subterranean spite and a talent for patient revenge, Willa is eighteen when a midnight-black Lincoln Navigator delivers her to the Langford dynasty—old-money Manhattan royalty who reveal she is their long-lost biological daughter. At the Greenwich estate, Alyssa, the girl raised in her place, tearfully surrenders the master guest suite and calls her sister.
Then Willa overhears Alyssa on the phone: thirty percent of the Langford Enterprise voting stock stays frozen until the biological heir claims it, and Alyssa plans to pamper her, coax her into a full transfer agreement, then frame her with scandal so their parents cast her out. Willa does not feel betrayed. She feels giddy.
When Alyssa offers her a Black Amex and her closet to soothe her guilt, Willa takes her up on it—loudly, tearfully, and without mercy—until her biological brother Mason storms in, furious at the stranger dismantling his sister's life.
