The story
On the day she learns she is pregnant, a woman calls her own number and reaches herself three years in the future. The voice on the line warns her that the baby will never be born, and that the people closest to her have already turned against her.
Following an address sent to her phone, she arrives at a luxurious mansion and sees Adrian Harrington celebrating Sophia Prescott's birthday, with her best friend Jane Addyman at Sophia's side. Her brother Adam Prescott arrives with gifts and strikes her when she protests. Each of them defends Sophia, and Jane tells her plainly that Adrian and Sophia were legally married long ago.
Her mother, Isabelle Prescott, is the one person she cannot bear to lose, and the future voice urges her to take her mother and leave before everything is gone. She breaks with Jane, goes home to pack, and calls the number from three years ahead to ask when it all began.
Opening
Clutching my pregnancy test report, I asked excitedly, "Was Adrian happy when he found out he was going to be a dad? Is my baby a boy or a girl?"
The woman on the other end of the phone answered in a hoarse voice, "The baby was never born. After Jane found out you were pregnant, she gave you abortion pills. Adam even signed the papers to have your uterus removed.
