Love and Hate Drift Far Apart

Ernest and his girlfriend Ariana have spent three years working day and night to pay off her debts and cover her mother's medical bills. One night, while Ernest works in a haunted house dressed as a ghost, a couple bursts in, and the woman flings cash and underwear at his face. The voice belongs to Ariana, and the man is Lance, her first love, newly returned from abroad. Colleagues at the front desk mock Ernest, revealing that Ariana's money was always meant for Lance, and that her poor-girl act was a lie.

When Ariana emerges arm in arm with Lance, she warns Ernest to keep quiet and tosses him a check, then drives away in a luxury car, never looking back. At home, she brings him strawberries and plays the devoted girlfriend, yet fails to recognize a photo of the mother she once claimed was hers. Ernest secretly follows her to a luxury mall and a hotel, where Lance waits with an elegant older woman.

Three years of sacrifice, a debt that was never real, and a mother who may not exist — Ernest must decide what to do with the check in his hand and the truth closing in around him.
