The story
Amy and her best friend Sarah learn at their prenatal checkups that both are carrying babies with the super-male gene. The doctor advises termination. Amy ends her pregnancy at once; Sarah wavers, pushed by a mother-in-law who demands a grandson and promises she will be the family's greatest asset.
In a previous life, Amy also aborted and warned Sarah that the child would ruin her life. Sarah followed her, then her husband cheated, claiming he wanted a son, and his mistress mocked her. Sarah blamed Amy, poisoned her water and watched her die. Now Amy has woken back on the day of the checkup.
This time Amy says nothing. Sarah's mother-in-law celebrates, and Sarah, pride restored, taunts Amy for being heartless. Amy, who already has a son, will not be her scapegoat again.
Opening
The doctor advised us to terminate the pregnancies. I immediately went through with it, but my best friend was hesitant.
