The story
Declan, an Oscar-winning actor, married Lydia to spite his first love, Nora Carter. For three years the public called Lydia a stand-in, yet she smiled and helped him dispel every rumor. Then Declan seemed to soften: he made her breakfast, coaxed her from bed, and whispered for a child just as sweet as her. When Lydia discovers she is pregnant, Nora returns on the day of their class reunion, and Declan abandons Lydia to protect Nora, publicly admitting their reunion online and exposing Lydia's own clarification as a lie.
At the company, Nora demands the wedding ring Lydia wears. A scuffle leaves Lydia bleeding, and Declan warns her not to touch Nora, praising Nora instead. Agent Fiona reminds him he once wanted a child with Lydia and said being with her felt like home. Lydia touches her belly, where a child is budding, then removes the ring that was never hers and hands it back to Declan.
