The story
When Martha Miller is struck and killed by a car driven by Layla Atkinson, the court rules that Martha was the one scamming Layla. Martha's daughter-in-law, Bianca, files three appeals and loses all three. Just as she prepares a fourth, Martha's corpse is stolen.
Bianca's attorney husband, Michael Sawyer, offers her three thousand dollars and warns that she will never win. He has sold Martha's body to the black market and believes the dead woman is Bianca's mother, not his own. Bianca pushes the money back, telling him it belongs to him, but Michael refuses to understand.
At his law firm, Bianca finds Michael tenderly massaging Layla's foot. She hands him a divorce agreement. He tears it up, vowing to ruin her reputation and leave her with nothing, still certain his mother will side with him.
Opening
My mother-in-law, Martha Miller, dies after being struck by my husband's assistant, Layla Atkinson's car after the latter runs the red light. But the court verdict shows that Martha is the one scamming Layla.
I've filed appeals three times, yet I've lost all three.
Just as I'm about to file the fourth appeal, I find out that someone has stolen Martha's corpse.
I'm about to call the police when my attorney husband, Michael Sawyer, seeks me out.
